Key West Impromptu Concerts Presents: Goldstein–Peled-Fiterstein Trio

Bound by their Israeli roots, pianist Alon Goldstein, cellist Amit Peled, and clarinetist Alex Fiterstein formed the Goldstein-Peled-Fiterstein Trio in 2005. Today, the ensemble’s performances reflect both the special gifts and originality of the three artists as soloists as well as their marvelous sense of ensemble and love of chamber music. The New York Times praised the ensemble for displaying “the kind of spotless technique that keeps the attention focused on the score rather than the vagaries of the performance.”

Old Island Restoration Foundation House Tours

10am – 4pm
The annual Key West Home Tours are one of the oldest and longest running home tours in America, with the first tour in 1960. Old Island Restoration Foundation (OIRF) conducts the tours and they are funded in part by our generous supporters. Each tour features lovely homes and gardens reflecting the varied tastes and originality of their owners. The tours feature five homes and bonus guesthouse/inn.

Key West Impromptu Concerts Presents: Amernet String Quartet

Praised for their “intelligence” and “immensely satisfying” playing by the New York Times, the Amernet String Quartet has garnered recognition as one of today’s exceptional string quartets and are Ensemble-in-Residence at Florida International University in Miami. Their sound has been called “complex” but with an “old world flavor.” Strad Magazine described the Amernet as “...a group of exceptional technical ability.”

America’s favorite sweethearts are back for an evening of patriotic music as they salute Naval Aviation. Doors open at 7 concert begins at 8.

Key West Air Spectacular

Boca Chica Naval Air Station

The Navy’s Blue Angels return to Key West for a weekend of spectacular flying, static displays, a Kid's Zone, souvenirs and concessions. This family friendly event is free and open to the public.

Key West Impromptu Concerts Presents: Lomazov Rackers Piano Duo

The Lomazov Rackers Piano Duo garnered wide attention as the Second Prize Winners of the Sixth Biennial Ellis Duo Piano Competition in 2005. Since then, they have performed as recitalists and in concert with orchestras throughout the United States and Europe, including performances at the Kiev International Music Festival (Ukraine), Varna International Piano Festival (Bulgaria), Moulin d’Andé Arts Festival (France), Burgos International Music Festival (Spain) and Infiorata di Genzano (Italy) in addition to appearances in every region of the United States.

Key West Fishing Tournament

The Key West Fishing Tournament is an 8-month long, multi-species tournament beginning January 1st and continuing until August 31st. Men, Women, Junior and Peewee anglers are awarded 'Master Angler' and 'Most Releases' titles along with trophies awarded for the heaviest of 33 different species in 9 different line classes.  All entrants receive certificates noting their weighed and released catches. There is no preregistration and is free to all anglers.

The Studios of Key West: Small Works Show

The rules of the show are simple – nothing more than 10” in any direction – but the possibilities are endless. Since it began in 2005, Lemonade Stand’s Small Works Show has become one of the most anticipated exhibitions on the island. The show features submissions from forty-four states and sixteen countries resulting in nearly two hundred selected works on view, including those of local artists Susan Sugar, Elizabeth Chamberlain, John Martini, Lynne Bentley-Kemp, Jim Racchi and many others. The precedent has been set and with Small Works returning for its second outing at The Studios, this year’s show promises to be the best yet.

Key West First Legal Rum Distillery

Key West and rum have a history dating back to the 1700s. Yet rum distilling in Key West came to a close with the Prohibition. That is, until 2013 when the Conch Republic’s official “adMinister of Rum” Paul Menta opened Key West First Legal Rum Distillery in the old Coca-Cola bottling plant on Simonton Street. Discover the history and tradition of Chef Distilled Key West rum with free tours and mojito classes daily, with free tastings of rums for grownups. Daily except Sundays.

Papio Kinetic Parade

Parade begins at the Custom House, 291 Front Street
The Papio Kinetic Parade is an event for the whole family. Human Powered Art Sculptures and Art Bikes that are simple, whimsical, futuristic, or fantastical — the only requirement is that they are physically moved by a person. The parade, beginning at 12 noon, accompanied by a Grand Marshal and marching band, will begin to wind its way from the Custom House Museum and over to Duval Street at 5:00pm on Saturday, May 4 and wrap up with a post-parade party at the Key West Amphitheater.

Key West Paddleboard Classic

Presented by Lazy Dog Adventures, the challenge includes a 12-mile Elite Race around the island and a 4-mile open race. Other events include a kick-off registration party, paddleboard clinics and races for kids. For more information please call 305-304-4259.

The Key West Songwriters Festival

The largest festival of its kind in the world. Celebrating its 24th year. Since 1997, BMI has been a presenting sponsor of the festival and has helped it grow into both a tourist attraction and favorite of island locals. The festival revolves around five days and nights where live music bliss introduces crowds to the faces, voices and stories behind the songs.
