35th Annual Key West Hemingway Days: July 21-26, 2015
One of the most popular summer events in Key West celebrates the annual birthday of Ernest Hemingway on July 21st. 2015 celebrates his 116th birthday and this year’s festival promises to be one of the best. Hemingway’s granddaughter Lorian Hemingway serves as festival director and oversees all events including the literary competition. Other festival proceedings consist of a three day marlin fishing tournament, look-alike contest, a rare memorabilia exhibition at the Hemingway Museum and a lively Running of the Bulls on Duval Street. Year after year, one of the most popular events is the Hemingway Look-Alike Contest. Impersonators from miles around come to be declared the “Best Ernest Hemingway” in Key West. Held at Sloppy Joe's Bar, one of Hemingway's favorite watering holes, this competition features hundreds of Hemingway look-alikes competing for prizes and bragging rights.
